PARKOUR

PARKOUR

Come and join the biggest and best Parkour Programme in the Bay!

Parkour: A training discipline using movement that developed from military obstacle course training. People aim to get from one point to another in a complex environment, without assistive equipment and in the fastest and most efficient way possible. Parkour includes running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping and rolling.

Te Puke Gymsport is the largest centre of Parkour in the Bay of Plenty. It is lots of fun and creates lots of challenges!

BeginnerOur focus at this level is to help participants learn and understand the basic fundamentals of parkour movement.  Participants will learn a range of skills to help them move around in an environment safely and efficiently. We will teach proper landing techniques and basic vaulting and ground acrobatic skills which will carry over into intermediate. Participants will spend approximately a term to 2 terms in this level.

Intermediate & Intermediate PlusAt this level we start moving more towards basic aerial acrobatic skills and more complicated vaulting techniques.  Athletes will also start developing their sense of flow in an environment (the ability to effortlessly move around a space without stopping). Athletes will work on mastering the skills and developing the ability to land them on hard surfaces in the future. With the vast amount of skills in the Intermediate.  We have split the Intermediate levels into two sections to help with athlete progression and have a more streamlined athlete learning experience.  Athletes may stay at this level for 2-3 terms

Advanced & Advanced PlusAthletes will develop more complicated skills of parkour and will start developing the ability to use these skills in an outdoor setting. You will notice more outdoor training opportunities at this level. Due to the nature of the skills, variety and the difficulty level athletes can spend 3-4 terms in this level. To better facilitate athlete progression and provide a more streamlined learning experience, we have divided the Advanced level into two sections, taking into account the abundance of skills involved.

Elite is our highest level of parkour, these athletes set their own goals and develop their own style of parkour with the Head coach supporting them on their journey. At this level athletes can choose to compete internationally for New Zealand.
